8.8.0 [July 2017]

US Data Center: Instant Update/Cloud - July 09, 2017; Solution - July 10, 2017

Note: this version is currently only available in the US data center. All other regions are scheduled to be available on July 30. We will update here when those updates are completed.

Note: Not all features are available for all versions of CRM.

For instructions on how to update, see this article. There is no additional charge to update and updating is quick. The column furthest to the right shows if the specific update was already automatically made for you (Cloud) or if you must update your solution file to get the update (Solution). 

 

IMPORTANT NOTICES

Social: Have enhanced our standard social posting capabilities and as a result set up the new social posting connectors powered by Oktopost. If you have set up a Facebook connector before this release, it will still work, but we recommend you disconnect that one after any scheduled posts have gone out. Then connect to the new Facebook (and other social) connectors. You will have to reconnect because you will need to approve via the Facebook connector that our partner Oktopost may post on your behalf. If you want to see post content from the previous Facebook connector you will need to change the view on Social Posts to "Inactive Social Posts" and open one there. Once you have opened that, you will need to change the form to "Legacy". For more information see the Facebook Connector article.

Emails: When you update the solution file you will see a pretty big change in the Email Send entity. So when you go to send an email, it will look a bit different. The fields are all still there, they are just laid out a bit differently to assist in making the send process a bit easier. Once you have sent the email, the sent Email Send form will also look different. The statistics are at the top and there are sub-grids for all of the related records that can been generated from an Email Send. 

 

  Dynamics 365 Feature

There is now a separate ClickDimensions solution file for Dynamics 365 environments. We have also created an "app" in Dynamics 365 so that you can see all ClickDimensions items in one place. Read more.

  Social Posting Feature

Now post to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google+ from inside your Dynamics environment! Just update to the new ClickDimensions solution file, setup a social CNAME, and connect to your social profiles. Also see special Page View records for any clicks on links within the post. We will be continuing to improve and add to this feature, so stay tuned for more updates! Read More.

  Improvement Accounts

We removed all content that does not need to be included in the solution file from the Account entity. This means that when you import ClickDimensions, it will not reset the name of the entity if you changed it, or other settings like audit history.

  Improvement Anonymous Visitors

In the 8.5 release we connected the Anonymous Visitor to the Contact or Lead that it got associated to once it was identified. In this release the Anonymous Visitor Associated View was updated so that it will show those records. Just go to the related entities on a Contact/Lead and choose Anonymous Visitors and see all the instances of that person.

  Improvement Check FreeMaker

In the email editors where the Check FreeMarker button exists, we've added some more specific error messages to help address issues with the dynamic content code.

The Connectors grid has been updated so that it is sort-able and the window opens bigger so it's easier to use. Also the Add Connector window has been redesigned to be more organized. It also has the new connectors added for the Social Marketing feature!

  Improvement Email Events

A new view was added for Email Events called "Email Events on Email Send". This view will be used in other areas as we continue to improve the experience of viewing statistics after sending an email.

The form for the Email Send entity has be rearranged for a better flow of putting an email together. All the fields are still there, in fact there are more fields now. The form will also change once the email is sent so that you see the statistics at the top. The look of the graphical statistics window as has also been updated. The social statistics graphs have been moved to the Email Statistics button at the top of the Email Send. It's a big improvement to the process of creating, sending, and analyzing an email.

The Quick Find view that shows the search results has been updated to show all inactive and active records. Previously it only showed active records which means only drafts would show. Now all statuses will show in the search results.

A new field was added called "Web Visits Generated". Currently the field is not on the form, but will be added to it in the next version. You can add it yourself, or use it in advanced finds or views. This field counts the number of Visit records associated to the Email Send.

The Email Statistics button has security around it now. You must have full read permissions on the Email Statistics entity in order to see this button on the Email Send record ribbon.

Now map List type form fields to lookup type fields on the lead or contact.

Now import and export Survey Questions from one environment to another!

Form fields now import and export with their mapping and show a list of fields that failed to map. The cause for a failure is that the field being mapped to on the contact/lead does not exist in the environment the form fields are being imported into.

The import window size has been increased and the interface has been improved for easier use.

The import tool will now check for duplicates before importing. Previously, if the exact same record (search by GUID) already existed it would overwrite that record. Now it will ask if you want to skip, replace, or create as new.

  Bug Fix   Social Post

One of the tabs on the Social Post entity was incorrect and causing a script error.

This only affected a very small number of customers.
