ClickDimensions enhances your Dynamics experience by providing an automated marketing solution so you can effectively communicate and market to your customers. However, the integration between Dynamics and ClickDimensions requires a certain level of access to your Dynamics environment. As of the Dynamics 365 release, Microsoft has made changes to their previous licensing structure. Since this will impact the access ClickDimensions would have with your environment, please review the following information on which licensing is required for each Dynamics version.
Dynamics 365 Licensing Structure
Dynamics 365 includes an Enterprise Edition and Professional Edition. ClickDimensions currently supports Enterprise Edition licensing types as detailed below. Please keep in mind that the ClickDimensions Service User must use Application User authentication or have Sales Enterprise or above (including Premium and Microsoft Relationship Sales) or Customer Engagement Plan licensing; Application User authentication is recommended for the Service User and does not require licensing.
Team Member
This license is alternatively known as a Light Use license. This is a named user subscription that enables customers to execute basic business processes and grants access to specific Microsoft UCI apps. A Sales Team Member license is insufficient for ClickDimensions application users (see reference here).
If a user requires read-only access to data generated by ClickDimensions or ClickDimensions users, then a Sales Team Member license is generally sufficient, but this will require the Sales Team Member UCI app to be customized to add the additional tables/entities that they would like to view. Having a Team Member license will not grant a user access to the ClickDimensions UCI app and users that need access to the ClickDimensions App may want to check the Power Apps section below for an alternative.
Application Specific
Application subscriptions are named user subscriptions where a user is licensed Full Use for one individual application. A user needing access to multiple applications (such as sales, customer service, and field service) would need to pay for multiple applications. And in order to fully use the ClickDimensions application, at least one Sales Enterprise or above application license is required.
Customer Engagement Plan
Also known as a Full Use license, this provides full access to all of Dynamics' system entities and functionality. Since plan licenses include the application licenses, they will provide users with privileges necessary to fully use the ClickDimensions application.
Power Apps License
Microsoft Power Apps licensing can also be a cost-effective and Microsoft licensing compliant way to introduce ClickDimensions to users. This will still require you to have at least one Sales Enterprise or above license but still allows users who do not have Dynamics 365 licensing attached to their accounts to access ClickDimensions. Power Apps licensing is available on a per-app (single Power App, e.g., the ClickDimensions app) or per-user (unlimited Power Apps). For more details about Power Apps licensing, please see the Microsoft article here.
CRM License Requirements for ClickDimensions Use
CRM 2013 – CRM 2016 and Dynamics 365 On Premise
For any users that want to utilize ClickDimensions on these versions of CRM they must have Microsoft’s Professional License for CRM. Non-Interactive Users are not supported.
Dynamics 365 Online
At least one ClickDimensions user must have a full use Sales Enterprise or above license subscription; a Sales Professional license or Team Member licenses are NOT sufficient for this one ClickDimensions user. Additional ClickDimensions users only need the Power Apps per app plan or the Power Apps Premium plan (previously called Power Apps per user). More details can be found here.
Next Steps
The information provided above is a guide to help you select the correct licensing option, however, you should consult the Microsoft licensing documentation and your partner to be sure your organization complies with Microsoft’s terms. Additional Dynamics 365 licensing information can be found at Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 Pricing page.
