AzureSend Migrations

Last year, ClickDimensions introduced a new back-end system for processing and sending email that we call AzureSend. This system enables us to continue to tailor our services to the needs of our valuable customers, providing greater control, performance and scalability. AzureSend has been processing and sending millions of emails in both our US and EU data centers since last year and we are actively migrating accounts to this platform.

If you received notice about your account being migrated, you can use this thread to post questions. If you have not received notice, please refrain from posting questions on this thread.

What is the benefit of migrating and what is the concern of not migrating to this platform. Do you have more details ?

The old platform is going away, so migrating is not optional. We are investing in improvements only in the new platform. For example, we are able to use much shorter trackable links, which appear better to recipients.. We are also investing in performance improvements on AzureSend that we cannot make on the old platform.

When in the DNS settings (to set the new CNAME) I'm not seeing the "AzureSend Email CNAME" field. Can you share with me why I can't see that? I'm assuming that it is because I'm on CD 4.3, but would love some clarification. Thanks!

    Hi Tommy,

You won't see that option until your account has been migrated to AzureSend on the date referenced in the notice you received.

How do I know if I need to change our CNames? Do we need to change it the exact time/date you migrate?  What will happen with old links if people review past emails sent?

If you received a notice, it will contain a date on which you will be able to add a new CNAME. You should not change your previous one, so that old links will continue to work. The new one can be added on or after the date in your notice. It is optional, and links will work after the date of the change, they just won't be branded with your CNAME until you update the setting by adding the new one.

Thanks Matt. What should my new CName be?

One of your colleagues said I don't need it, can you confirm if I do? We are RKO Solutions.

A CNAME can be whatever you want it to be. This is just a link you set up in your DNS provider to point to elink.azuresend.com. So you can set up mktg.mycompany.com (replace with your real domain) or elinks.mycompany.com, etc. If you received a notice it will contain the date that your account will be switched over and the option will be available on your DNS Settings on the ClickDimensions Settings page in CRM. (In your case, Gabrielle, this will be on July 22, and the notice includes a link to further instructions.)

My email for the upgrade said we would be upgraded Aug 15th.  I don't see the AzureSend Email CNAME under DNS Settings at this time..  So I am assuming it is happening tonight. I won't be able to update the setting until Monday.

We scheduled an email for Monday morn.  I am assuming the email will go out just fine but we will see the azure link instead of our branded link?

That's correct, Martha. The update will be done later today, so if you don't have time to enter your new CNAME, the links will show the azuresend.com address, but will still function correctly.

Is adding a new CNAME to my domain the ONLY thing I need to do, or do I also need to change something in the settings within my Dynamics CRM instance?

You would add a new CNAME with your DNS provider. Then, after your account is migrated, you can add that CNAME in the DNS Settings in CRM by going to Settings > ClickDimensions Settings and clicking on "DNS Settings".
