DNS issues for some ISPs in North America

ClickDimensions is posting this notice as an informational service for its customers.

The ClickDimensions service is operating normally with no disruptions. However, news sources are reporting that some DNS providers in the US and Canada have begun experiencing intermittent DNS resolution problems.

The symptoms are that some websites, for some ISP customers, may not load in a user's browser from time to time. This can impact various websites regardless of where they are hosted, and has been reported to affect the websites of major corporations and small businesses alike.

The cause is a problem with the hardware of some ISPs' DNS routing facilities, where the DNS tables have exceeded the capacity of older hardware. The issue has been expected for some time, but many ISPs have been slow in updating their hardware. Impacted ISPs include AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and others. This problem is expected to last 1-2 weeks as ISPs rush to upgrade their hardware.
