CRM 2015 Compatibility for ClickDimensions

****UPDATE: ClickDimensions' January 2015 release included full compatibility with CRM 2015. See the release notes here: http://support.clickdimensions.com/entries/61644534-Release-Notes-Version-6-5-1-January-26-2015- ****

Microsoft has released CRM 2015 for CRM Online. The ClickDimensions solution for CRM 2013 works with CRM 2015 in environments where ClickDimensions was installed prior to upgrading CRM to 2015. We are finalizing our testing and planning and have not yet determined if we will release a separate version of our solution specifically for CRM 2015. Meanwhile, if your CRM Online organization is upgraded to CRM 2015 or you sign up for a new CRM Online org, you can continue to use the 2013 solution and no upgrade to ClickDimensions is necessary. We will post new developments regarding CRM 2015 to this forum.

    UPDATE 2 DECEMBER 2014:

We are investigating an issue with publishing metadata in CRM 2015. Publishing metadata is required to enable mapping of ClickDimensions "Form Fields" and to display placeholders in email templates. Currently our testing shows that this is not working in CRM 2015, and we are researching this issue. We will post updates here as this develops.

Hi Matthew, any new CRM Online trial is in version 2015. I'm waiting for your update, I can't demo ClickDimensions to new customers ! Many thanks.

Microsoft is aware of the bug in CRM 2015 that causes our feature not to work. This is also a problem for several other third-party products. While there is no word from Microsoft on when they will fix the bug, we are testing a workaround and hope to have our product fully functional within the next couple of weeks.

    Hi

I have been unable to define field mappings while creating form fields. The mapping lists do not display any fields (screenshot attached). Is this behavior due to the issue discussed above. I am using CRM 2015 online.

    Thanks

    Hi Mir,

Yes, this is caused by the issue above. We are working to address this soon.

If we have an existing form set up in 2013, and we upgrade to 2015, will it break our form?

No, an existing form should still work. I would publish metadata prior to upgrading to 2015 (Settings > ClickDimensions Settings > click on "Metadata") to ensure that your metadata is up-to-date with us. Then it should be available after the upgrade of CRM to 2015.

We are upgrading to CRM 2015 this week.  I don't fully understand this issue.  What will be affected once we upgrade to 2015 and send out emails through CD?

    Hi Sue,

If you first publish your metadata (Settings > ClickDimensions Settings, click on "Metadata") prior to upgrading, you should be fine. The problem in CRM 2015 prevents us from getting the list of your custom fields for the Account, Contact and Lead entities, so we cannot make them available for personalizing email templates or for mapping form fields. But if you publish the metadata prior to upgrading to CRM 2015, these functions should continue to work fine.

We have just learned of a new bug in CRM 2015:

When a CRM organization is version 2013 and has a custom solution installed that includes a custom "activity entity" (such as our Text Message entity), and then this organization is upgraded to CRM 2015, Microsoft's upgrade process introduces a new system field for activities called "Traversed Path" (traversedpath).

The system field traversedpath is incorrectly introduced into an upgraded CRM organization as an "unmanaged" field. In a clean installation of CRM 2015, this system field is managed.

The result is that when you try to import a more recent version of ClickDimensions or any other custom solution that contains a custom activity entity, the import fails because the unmanaged "traversedpath" field cannot be converted to managed, which is what it is supposed to be.

Microsoft is aware of this issue but has not disclosed a date for resolution and we expect it to be fixed in a future Update Rollup for CRM 2015. If you have ClickDimensions installed prior to upgrading to CRM 2015 and, after your upgrade to CRM 2015, you wish to update to a newer version of ClickDimensions, please contact our support team. They can modify the solution file to remove the Text Message entity (the existing Text Message entity in your upgraded CRM organization will not be modified).

I read that you will planned an update on January 25th, this update will fix this issues, the personalization of email templates with CRM fields, for example?

We recently upgraded our CRM from 2013 to 2015 on January 2nd, and we're experiencing this problem.

Yes, the plan is that the personalization and form field mapping in CRM 2015 will be functional with this month's release. We are in final testing stages now and will update here when we get closer.

Do you know how much time have been scheduled for update on January 25th? We usually plan several mails every Friday to be sent on Sunday. Is it possible our mails planned for that day can't be sent?

The release should not cause any disruption. Our systems are redundant and the release deployment to our cloud application will not cause any system downtime.

    Hi Matt,

Has this issue been addressed yet? I have click dimensions version  6.5.1 with CRM 2015 online but I get errors.

    Regards

    Ridhima

Yes, our application is compatible with CRM 2015. If you have any recent version of our solution installed (6.0+) all you need to do is go to Settings > ClickDimensions Settings > click on "Metadata".

If you are receiving errors, this is not related to CRM 2015 compatibility and you should open a support ticket.

Hi Mathew.  Has Microsoft released any details about the error you mention regarding the new Traversedpath fields that are introduced in activities as unmanaged attributes.  We are having the same issue with our product on CRM 2015.  I think it doesn't just occur when upgrading from crm 2013 to 2015 as we are encountering this on a brand new crm 2015 tenant.  It might be an update or service pack that has introduced these fields.

    Hi James,

I'm afraid we haven't heard of any progress from Microsoft about the "traversedpath" field. Still waiting on them to address.

    Hi Matt

Just to clarify I am having the issue with the personalised fields for email templates not showing up even after meta data is published on 2015. We are currently on 6.4.0.

Will upgradeing to 6.5.1 fix this issue?

    Cheers

How's ClickDimension's compatibility with the forthcoming CRM 2015 "Update 1"? There are many improvements in it that make us keen to upgrade our CRM Online instance to the new version ASAP, but first we would need assurances that the current version of ClickDimension is compatible with it, and if now we'd like an ETA on an update from you that would be compatible, should there be any compatibility issues.

    Hi Joe,

Our testing of Update 1 for CRM 2015 has shown no problems with ClickDimensions, so you should be fine to proceed with the update.

    Hi Matthew

I am importing ClickDimensions solution into CRM 2015 on-Premise (IFD) but it is hanging and not responding at all. It does not throw any error message. I have waited for 30 minutes but no luck. Is this a known issue. Can you please advise me on how to fix it?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Jaber,

CRM is responsible for the solution import process. If it hangs and does not show an error message, then it is likely due to performance problems in the CRM database. You may eventually get a timeout error after CRM gives up trying to import the solution. I would suggest that you have a look at your CRM and SQL servers and see if there are any errors or warnings logged in the application logs. They may reveal some optimizations that you need to make to the database, such as doing some tuning to improve SQL's response times.

Thanks for your response. I have found a solution for my issue and successfully imported the Click Dimension solution.
