Email field on form - Does it need to be present when dealing with Campaign Automation?

We are in the process of building CA builds. I want to either hide or delete the email field in my connected form, as people are filling it out with a different email address to the one we have in our CRM for them. Then they're dropping out of the build rather than completing it because the email is incorrect. Can I hide it? Delete it? Have it marked as 'read only'? Or any other options?
