    Hi Blake,

We suggest that you use the 'Send ClickDimensions Email' step in a workflow, rather than simply create an Email Send record, because that will ensure the appropriate status is put into place to fire our Execute Send workflow and get the email out. Essentially, using that step just makes it easier on you and requires less configuration on your end in the workflow.

Quick Sends are another area where we take care of the configuration for you in order to make less work for the system user. They are simply an Email Send record where we append the Email Template and Lead/Contact/Account to the Email Send record for you, instead of you having to manually do it yourself.

They are seperate entities. You will need Send ClickDimensions Email in workflows, because you cannot associate a Contact/Lead with an Email Send record via a workflow (unless you build custom stuff).

If I have a process that creates a Connection between an Email Send and a Custom Entity based on the 'from User' so I can use fields from the Custom Entity in the Email Send body, how would I get that process to run with a "Send clickDimensions Email"?

You can't... In the end, we had a custom workflow made, because the real problem is that Dynamics doesn't provide a method for associating records from a workflow (e.g. a Contact with an Email Send). Something like this: http://blog.clickdimensions.com/guest-post-send-email-with-custom-entity-data-via-workflow/
