The Social Advocacy App allows Advocates to stay up-to-date with their board activities.
Advocates can receive Slack notifications when new Stories become available on their Advocacy Board, allowing them to stay informed of new content and access it more easily for sharing.
Note: To use this integration your account needs to have a Social Advocacy Board.
How It Works
- Before Advocates can receive board notifications through Slack, a Click Social admin must first add Slack for Advocacy as an integration to the Click Social account. (The the section below for instructions on how to do this.)
- After adding the integration, each Advocate will be able to access the app via Slack. You can also access the app by visiting this page.
- Each time a new story is added to their Advocacy Board, Advocates will receive a direct Slack message with the story details and a way to share it.
- If the Board uses Topics, Advocates will receive notifications only on the Topics they follow within the Board.
How To Set Up The Integration With Slack
- Login to Click Social and go to Settings > General > Integrations, and click on New Integration.
- Select Slack for Advocacy.
- This step requires permissions to add Slack for Advocacy app to your company's workspace.
- If your users is not an admin in your company's Slack workspace, you will see the following screen:
- Click Submit to send a request to your Slack administrator.
- Once the request is approved by your company's Slack admin, repeat Steps 1 and 2.
- If your user is a Slack admin in your company's workspace, you will see the following screen:
- Click Allow to complete the installation.
- If your users is not an admin in your company's Slack workspace, you will see the following screen:
- All existing Advocates who have logged in to their Advocacy Board at least once will see the Social Advocacy App in their Slack list under Apps and receive a welcome notification.
- When a new story is available on their board, they will receive a Slack notification.
How To Control Notification Settings For Slack Advocacy
Board Admins can control advocacy Slack notifications in the settings section of their Board.
Once the integration is added to Click Social and the app is added to your company's Slack workspace, a new section will appear in your Board Settings: New Content Slack Notifications.
The toggle is ON by default, and enables the Slack Notifications section on the Advocacy Board Settings for all Advocates.
Advocates can control Slack notifications in the Notifications section of their board.
Note: If the Slack integration is turned OFF, it will hide this option for Advocates.
Adding Advocates To Existing Integration With Slack
Invite the Advocate to the Advocacy Board on which you want to notify them.
Note: You must use the same email address for the invite that they use for their Slack login.
As soon as the Advocate logs in at least once and new content becomes available on their Board, they'll receive a Slack welcome message along with their first new content notification.
How to Pause or Delete the Integration with Slack
To pause the integration with Slack go to Settings > Integrations and hover over the row for the integration with Slack and click on the pause button.
Pausing the integration will stop notifications for all boards in the account.
To delete the Slack for Advocacy integration, simply select the delete button.
