Personalization is a key component to effective email marketing. With ClickDimensions you can personalize not only the body of your emails but also the subject lines of your emails. You do this by adding our personalization fields to the subject of your email template.
Goals
- Learn how to use dynamic content to personalize an Email Send's subject
- Dynamics 365
In version 10.9, we added a "Personalization" button directly to the Email Subject field.
Clicking this button will open a new window where the desired entity and field can be selected for the freemarker that you would like to insert into the subject.
For versions prior to 10.9, first use the personalization menu in your email template (or in the Text Version iframe if you used the Block Editor) to select the field you want to add to the subject line.
Second, copy the personalization field.
Third, paste the personalization field into the subject line of the template.
When you send your email, the personalization field will be replaced with the value from CRM. If a value does not exist in CRM nothing will be put in place of the personalization field; not even a blank space. If you want to specify a default value in this case, simply place it inside the quotation marks at the end of the personalization field (e.g. ${Recipient.contact.firstname[0]!"Hey there"} )
You can also use this method to personalize the From Name and From Email fields of your Email Send. This can be useful if you have a lookup field on your records other than the record owner that you would want to send email from (in our case, the recipient's Assigned Marketing Success Manager).
