After choosing to send an Email Send, you may realize that you made a typo on your email template or forgot to add a particular recipient and decide that you want to cancel the Email Send to fix the error. We will explain how to cancel a send that you've chosen to send in the future.
If you chose to send out the Email Send immediately, there is no way to cancel it. However, if you chose to have the Email Send distributed at a later time, you can cancel it through the following method at any point before the specified distribution time occurs.
It is technically possible to prevent a scheduled Email Send from sending by deleting the Email Send record, but this will completely remove the record from Dynamics and may prevent further troubleshooting.
- Dynamics 365
- Legacy
Cancelling an Email Send
First, navigate to Options > Advanced Settings.
Then navigate to Settings > System Jobs.
Locate the instance of the ClickDimensions Execute Send system job for the Email Send that you wish to cancel and open it. As long as the system job does not have a "Succeeded" status, then it should still be possible to cancel it. Remember this will only work if you chose not to send the Email Send immediately.
To ensure that the correct system job has been selected, you can try checking the Postpone until field to see if it matches the scheduled date and time for the email send. At the top of process window, there is a cancel button. Click this to cancel the ClickDimensions Execute Send workflow.
The associated Email Send will not be sent out now. DO NOT REACTIVATE the Email Send to edit it. Clone it, then make any necessary changes to the cloned Email Send instead.
NOTE: If you are using ClickDimensions version 6.4.0 or higher, the ability to reactivate Email Sends has been disabled.
