The installation steps discussed in this article apply for both Online and On-Premise CRM environments.
Once you have registered your CRM for ClickDimensions you will receive an email like the one shown here from system@clickdimensions.com with a link to download a custom solution package.
Select "Click here" in the email to download a .zip file of the solution. Save that file to your computer and open CRM.

It is always a good idea to backup your CRM database and/or customizations prior to importing any solution into your CRM.
To deploy the ClickDimensions solution package, follow the steps below: Go to Settings > Customization > Solutions.
Click the Import button.
Browse to locate the .zip file you saved to your computer. Select it to be imported.
Click next and you will see an overview screen.
Click next. On the following dialog be sure and check the box below. This will enable CRM workflow processes used by our solution.
Next you will see a progress bar as the solution is imported.
NOTE: In many cases the solution import will complete successfully but with warnings about different language labels that were not imported or about workflows being replaced. Warnings can safely be ignored as they are just informational. If the import completes but fails with Errors, download the import log from the import screen to examine the reason for the Error.
Re-publish any duplicate detection rules that may have become unpublished during the solution import. By default, when importing a solution, Microsoft CRM unpublished duplicate detection rules for entities that have had metadata changed by the solution. Before everyone can start using ClickDimensions, you'll need to set up their Security Roles.

- CRM 2011: Update Rollup 17 or newer is required on the CRM server.
NOTE: It is always a good idea to backup your CRM database and/or customizations prior to importing any solution into your CRM. If you have made certain customizations to system entities, importing a managed solution such as ClickDimensions can cause the customizations to revert to the default state. (For example, if you renamed the Account entity to "Company", importing our solution will cause the entity to revert to the name "Account".
To recover your customizations after importing our solution, follow the steps below. If you have not made changes to the Account, Contact, Lead or Marketing List entities, you can skip this:
- Prior to importing the ClickDimensions solution, export the Account, Contact, Lead and Marketing List entities. You can export them as an unmanaged solution. (Read more here about solutions.) Note that if you have not made changes to these entities you do not need to do this step.
- After importing the ClickDimensions solution, import the solution you created with the Account, Contact, Lead and Marketing List entities. When the import process is completed, publish the customizations.
