Video Studio automatically generates captions for your videos. You can review, edit, style, and export these captions to improve accuracy and accessibility.
Caption generation may take a few moments after uploading a video.
How Captions Work
When a video is added:
- A transcript is automatically generated.
- Captions are synced to a video timeline.
- Each line of text corresponds to a specific point in the video.
Supported Languages
Video Studio generates captions automatically. There is no language selector in the editor.
Caption generation works best for speech in these languages:
- Arabic
- Danish
- Dutch
- English
- Finnish
- French
- German
- Hebrew
- Hindi
- Italian
- Japanese
- Mandarin
- Norwegian
- Portuguese
- Spanish
- Swedish
- Turkish
- Vietnamese
Captions may also generate for other languages. Accuracy can vary by language, accent, audio quality, and background noise. Always review captions before you export.
Open the Captions Panel
- Click the Captions tab in the left sidebar.
- Wait for the transcript to fully load.
You will see a list of caption lines corresponding to your video.
Edit Captions
You can update caption text to correct errors or improve clarity.

- Press Enter or click outside the word to save.
Use this to:
- Fix spelling or grammar errors.
- Correct names or terminology.
- Improve readability.
Navigate the Video Using Captions
Each caption line is linked to a timestamp.
- Click the caption line.
- The playhead moves to that point in the video.
- The preview updates to match.
This allows you to quickly locate specific moments in your video.
Preview Captions
- Click Play in the preview player.
- Watch captions display in sync with the video.
Use this to confirm:
- Timing accuracy.
- Readability.
- Alignment with spoken content.
Style Captions
When caption text is selected, use the preview action bar to adjust:
- Font family (including custom fonts)
- Font color and size
- Effects such as outline and shadow
- Active word highlight (toggle in the Captions overflow menu)
To show or hide captions in the video preview for a clip, open the caption options menu on that clip and toggle Show captions in video.

Tips
- Always review captions before exporting your video. Pay close attention to names, brands, and technical terms. Use captions to quickly find and review key sections of your video. Keep caption text clear and easy to read.
- Captions are generated automatically and may require manual correction. Caption editing does not change the underlying video audio.
