As part of our efforts to deprecate some of our older editors, we are making some changes to the behaviors you may see when cloning or creating Email Sends and Templates with certain editors. This article should help you to understand the old and new behaviors to help determine what has changed.

Drag & Drop Editor
Prior to release 12.1, it was not possible to create a new email send or email template using the Drag & Drop editor, but it was possible to clone an existing email send/template using this editor.
After release 12.2, it is still not possible to create new email sends/templates, and cloning your existing records will automatically update the editor type of the new record to the New Drag & Drop editor.
After release 12.8, using the Create Email Template button on an Email Send record will also automatically update the editor type of the Email Template record to use the New Drag & Drop editor.
Block Editor
Prior to release 12.1, it was not possible to create a new email send or email template using the Block editor, but it was possible to clone an existing email send/template using this editor.
After release 12.2, it is still not possible to create new email sends/templates, and cloning your existing records will automatically update the editor type of the new record to the Freestyle editor.
Custom HTML
Prior to release 12.1, it was not possible to create a new email send or email template using the Custom HTML editor, but it was possible to clone an existing email send/template using this editor.
After updating your solution to version 12.1+, it is still not possible to create new email sends/templates with this editor, and cloning your existing records will automatically update the editor type of the new record to the HTML editor within the New Drag & Drop editor.
Please be aware that the Custom HTML editor behavior will only change if you update your solution to version 12.1+. You will still be able to clone your templates into the HTML editor of the New Drag and Drop editor if you update at a later time.
Email Designer
Since being introduced, it has been possible to create or clone a new email send or email template using the Email Designer, and this editor has had no changes to this behavior.
Free Style
Prior to release 12.1, it was possible to create or clone a new email send or email template using the Freestyle editor, and this editor has had no changes after release 12.1.
NEW Drag & Drop
Prior to release 12.1, it was possible to create or clone a new email send or email template using the NEW Drag & Drop editor, and this editor has had no changes after release 12.1.
HTML Editor
This editor replaces the Custom HTML editor after updating your solution to version 12.1+. After updating, selecting the "HTML" editor type will allow you to use this editor instead of the previous Custom HTML editor. Cloning an email send/template that uses the original Custom HTML editor will also update the editor type to use this new HTML editor within the New Drag and Drop editor.
If you experience any issues after automatically converting some of your email sends or templates, then please reach out to our Support Team via support ticket so that we can help investigate the issue for you.
