LinkedIn Polls allow you to ask questions and gather feedback directly from your audience. With Click Social, you can create, schedule, publish, and analyze LinkedIn Polls directly from the platform, helping you increase engagement and diversify your LinkedIn content strategy.
This article explains how to create and manage LinkedIn Polls using the Post Editor.
Create a LinkedIn Poll
- Navigate to Publishing > Create Post.
- Select a LinkedIn profile or company page as the publishing network.
- In the Post Editor, click Create a Poll.
- Enter you poll question (up to 140 characters).
- Add at least two answer options (maximum four options).
- Select a poll duration: 1 day, 3 days, 1 week (default), or 2 weeks.
- Click Done to attach the poll to your post.
- Add any additional post text if needed.
- Choose to publish immediately or schedule the post.
Once saved, the poll will appear as a poll card inside the Post Editor, where you can preview how it will appear on LinkedIn.
Poll Requirements and Limits
LinkedIn Polls created in Click Social follow LinkedIn's platform limitations:
- Poll question: up to 140 characters
- Poll answers: 2-4 options
- Option length: 30 characters per option
- Poll duration: 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, or 2 weeks.
Additional rules:
- Poll options cannot be duplicated.
- Empty options are automatically removed when saving the poll.
- At least two options must remain in the poll.
Click Social also validates poll content using the platform's banned keyword detection.
Poll Content Restrictions
LinkedIn does not allow polls that request sensitive information, including:
- Political opinions
- Medical information
- Other sensitive personal data
If restricted content is detected, the poll cannot be saved.
Poll and Media Limitations
LinkedIn Polls cannot be combined with certain post elements:
- Media added first (image/video): poll option becomes unavailable.
- Poll added first: media upload is disabled.
- Link added first: Adding a poll replaces the link preview image. Removing the poll restores the original link preview.
Edit or Remove a Poll
After adding a poll to a post, you can modify it before publishing.
Edit a poll
- In the Post Editor, click the Edit (pencil) icon on the poll card.
- Update the poll question, answers, or duration.
- Click Done to save changes.
Remove a poll
- Click the Remove (X) icon on the poll card.
- The poll will be removed from the post.
Previewing Polls
Click Social provides poll previews in several areas of the platform:
- Post Editor preview
- Publishing calendar (hover preview)
- Post Details view
These previews display:
- Poll question
- Answer options
- Vote percentages
- Total votes
- Remaining poll time or "Poll closed" if the poll has ended.
Poll metrics refresh automatically in the background.
Viewing Poll Performance
Once published, LinkedIn Poll performance is available in Post Details and reporting.
Poll analytics include:
- Total votes
- Vote percentage per answer option
Poll posts are also included in Social BI reporting, allowing you to analyze engagement and performance alongside other LinkedIn content.
